c. Installation
1.
Install valve spring (6) and relief valve (5) in pump (7).
2.
Install gasket (4) and fitting (3) in pump (7). Tighten fitting (3) in pump (7) to 37 lb-ft (50 N•m).
3.
Install O-ring (2) on high-pressure line (1) and install high-pressure line (1) on pump (7).
FOLLOW-ON TASKS: • Connect battery ground cables (para. 4-73).
• Bleed power steering system (para. 8-29).
b. Inspection
Inspect external surface of relief valve (5) for burrs, nicks, or damage. Inspect relief valve (5) bore and
screen for damage or debris. Inspect valve spring (6) for damage. Replace both relief valve (5) and valve
spring (6) if either is damaged.
