Ensure front wheels are in straight-ahead position while removing
and installing intermediate steering shaft.
a. Removal
1.
Remove locknut (61, washer (51, capscrew (81, and washer (5) from intermediate steering shaft (4)
and steering gear (71. Discard locknut (6).
2.
Remove locknut (21, washer (31, capscrew (91, washer (3), and steering shaft (4) from steering column (11.
Discard locknut (21.

Install intermediate steering shaft (4) on steering gear (7) with washer (5), capscrew (81, washer (51,
and locknut (61. Tighten locknut (61 to 40-50 lb-ft (54-68 N*m).
2.
Install steering sh& (4) on steering column (1) with washer (31, capscrew (91, washer (31, and locknut (2).
Tighten locknut (2) to 40-50 lb-ft (54-68 N-ml.
