NOTE
The following procedure applies to vehicles with new brake
adapters, P/N 10453002. These brakes are cut away, which
allows access to left center capscrews.
Have drainage container ready to catch fluid.
a. Removal
1. Remove drainplug (3) from differential assembly (4) and drain differential.
2. Remove twelve capscrews (2) and cover (1) from differential assembly (4).
b. Cleaning and Inspection
W A R N I N G
Drycleaning solvent is flammable and will not be used near an
open flame. A fire extinguisher will be kept nearby when the
solvent is used. Use only in well-ventilated places. Failure to do
this may result in injury to personnel and/or damage to equipment.
1. Use drycleaning solvent to clean differential cover (1), capscrews (2), and differential assembly (4).
2. Inspect differential cover (1) for cracks, wear, or breaks. Replace cover (1) if cracked, worn, or
broken.
1. Apply RTV sealant to cover (1) sealing surface and install cover (1) on housing (4) with twelve
capscrews (2). Tighten capscrews (2) to 16 lb-ft (22 N m).
2. Install drain plug (3) into differential assembly (4) and tighten to 13-18 lb-ft (18-25 N m).
