BRAKE SYSTEM

.Flush and bleed the brake system (para. 7-2).

1. With the engine off, pump the brake pedal
six or seven times, or until the pedal
becomes noticeably stiffer and harder to
depress.
2. Press hard on the brake pedal. If the pedal
keeps going down to the floor, either the
master cylinder is bad or there is a leak in
the hydraulic system.
Replace master cylinder (para. 7-S).

Check the individual tines going to each
brake. Check the supply and return lines to
the hvdro-booster unit. Replace brake line
(pa& 7-7).
NOTE
I
Brake hydraulic system must be bled of air
whenever hydraulic lines are broken.
Bleed service brake (para. 7-2).
